WHAT

On this platform, fashion will be considered through different lenses that represent the topic´s various dimensions – be it personal, political, economic or technological. The Fashion Lens is about a designer´s inspiration. It is about valuing fashion as an art, not only created by designers who sketch a draft but also by the people who produce and who wear it. It is about the political debates and technological advances that influence the fashion industry.

WHY

Talking to people about fashion, I realized that most of them see it as a girly, shallow topic unworthy of further intellectual attention. From their point of view, it´s all about “how to combine a shirt” and “5 items to put in your beach bag” – an idea they get from major fashion magazines and blogs. Personally, I was also disappointed when a few years ago I bought that kind of a magazine and was able to just flick through it within 15 minutes, for it was lacking interesting stories. Apart from amazing photographs of beautiful designs, fashion magazines always cover the same topics: celebs, love and beauty. I am tired of this monotony, which is why I am starting The Fashion Lens – a slightly different fashion magazine.
